The primary role of a Zoning Board is to review and decide cases where a relaxation of the ordinance is sought or where there is an alleged error in a zoning decision. In general, the Zoning Board of Appeals is the body established to: hear appeals of decisions rendered by zoning administrators, interpret unclear provisions in the zoning ordinance, decide on applications by landowners to permit buildings or land uses which vary from the zoning regulations.
